Consultant in the spotlight: Margo

project consultant - margo

One year ago, Margo joined our team of finance consultants. In this blog, we look back with Margo on her transition from audit to project consultancy, her achievements in the past months, and what makes hyphen so special.

The transition from audit to project consultancy

"I actually studied TEW with a major in marketing. Not the typical path of someone who works in finance.

"After my studies, I didn't know exactly what direction I wanted to go in, but what I was sure of was that I wanted to learn a lot more. So I eventually started in big 4 audit and it turned out that I really liked it."

Need for variety

"After a few years, I started looking for something else. During audit it had become clear that the variety and learning curve were important to me, as well as the social contact with colleagues."

"Due to the need for variety, I started looking at consultancy. Everything I was looking for (the combination of variety and a steep learning curve, etc.), I immediately found at hyphen."

My career path as a finance consultant

"At my first interviews at hyphen I was immediately struck by how warm, enterprising and open the culture was. I immediately felt at home and soon started on my first project as a Business Analyst at Adecco."

My first project as a Business Analyst

"Here I was responsible for periodic KPI reporting to both management and customers, adhoc analyses for the sales team and supplying data to the marketing team."

"As a member of the Business Intelligence team, I was able to seriously hone my IT skills here. I was given the opportunity to learn how to work with Microsoft SQL, for example, and my Excel knowledge was put to the test."

"It was also very nice to be able to work together with the sales and marketing department, it was like getting back to my roots actually."

My current project at ISS

"In the meantime I have successfully completed my first project and started as a Finance Business Analyst at ISS Facility Services. Two projects with roughly the same title but a completely different interpretation of the role."

"On my current project I am responsible for a number of key accounts. I support these accounts with the monthly closing, cost analysis, monitoring of the invoicing and AR collectability. This function tends more towards controlling, which I eventually want to evolve into."

Why hyphen

"For me, the biggest advantage of hyphen is definitely the personal approach. In addition to my project, I have a lot of contact with the other hyphen colleagues. For example, I regularly spend a day working at their offices, and I see my fellow consultants at training courses and various after-work activities."

"In addition, I have a real say in my career path. I have a say in the choice of my projects and different training courses I want to attend, which allows me to shape my career myself. The great colleagues I got for free ? ."

"Hyphen does everything just a little bit differently. You feel the passion and drive in your colleagues which motivates me myself to go for it 100% as well."

My future as a consultant

"On my future projects, I hope to be able to discover a lot of different aspects within controlling and business analysis and thus build up a broad general experience."
