Do you have a question? Below you’ll find the answers to the most frequently asked questions about working with Hyphen.

Questions from organizations

Looking for temporary support in finance or legal? Here you’ll find answers to the most frequently asked questions about our approach, profiles, and collaboration.

We specialize in finance and legal and know both markets in Flanders and Brussels inside and out.

For every assignment, we seek out the best available freelance expertise. In addition, we have our own in-house team of high-potential consultants with strong finance experience, ranging from a few years to more than ten years.

We look not only at expertise, but also at industry context, personality, and cultural fit. This way, we ensure a match that works - both within the team and for the assignment.

Hyphen has been active in finance and legal for years and has a rigorously screened network of freelancers and consultants.

Our business managers are trained in interview techniques, conduct targeted reference checks, and select candidates tailored to the assignment.

Thanks to their own professional backgrounds, they understand your context and needs. They contribute ideas, offer advice, and serve as a sounding board in the search for the right match.

We know the market inside and out and always ensure a rate that is in line with market conditions for the assignment, the profile, and the context.

We work with an all-inclusive daily rate, which covers travel and standard expenses. An hourly rate is also possible if that’s a better fit.

Important to know: an interim manager bills only for the days actually worked. There are no payroll costs, vacation days, training, or fringe benefits.

For assignments involving exceptional travel or additional costs, we’ll work with you to determine the appropriate arrangement.

Our professionals typically work on an all-inclusive daily rate. At the end of the month, we provide a timesheet detailing the work performed, if requested.

After approval by the manager, we issue the invoice. The standard payment term is 14 days from the invoice date.

Questions about interim management

Are you a freelancer and want to know how we work together? Find out how we match you with assignments, follow up with you, and support you throughout your assignment.

We start with a personal introductory meeting. We listen to your story, assess your experience and ambitions, and work together to identify which projects are a good fit for you.

Even if you’re not currently working with us, we’ll stay in touch and keep an eye on your availability and preferences.

As soon as an assignment comes up that’s a good fit both in terms of content and context, we’ll coordinate with you and do everything we can to secure the project.

After the project kicks off, we remain closely involved. This way, we build a partnership step by step that continues to grow.

Our assignments span all areas of finance and law. They range from broad operational roles to specialized assignments requiring specific expertise.

Sometimes the focus is on continuity, sometimes on strengthening core capabilities or driving change. This mix results in a wide variety of projects. Most assignments are full-time, though we occasionally receive part-time requests as well.

That depends on the type of assignment and the client’s context. Some are short and well-defined, such as a maternity leave replacement. Others, such as strategic change initiatives, can easily last longer than a year.

Although you work independently as a freelancer, you’re not on your own. Your business manager knows both you and the client and closely monitors the project.

If you have questions about the work or if something gets stuck, you can count on a knowledgeable partner to bounce ideas off of.

In addition, you’re welcome to attend events, come to the office to work, or just catch up. You’re part of a strong network of freelancers and consultants, and we can connect you with them specifically if that adds value for you or your assignment.

Absolutely. We discuss every assignment with you first. Only if you agree to the scope, timing, location, duration, and rate will we introduce you to the client.

This is followed by an introductory meeting or intake interview with the client. Only once both parties are satisfied do we move forward with the project.

Our business managers guide you through the entire process. The better we get to know you, the more precisely we can match you with the right opportunities.

We work with an all-inclusive daily rate. At the end of the month, you invoice us for the number of days worked, and we’ll process payment within 14 days of the invoice date.

Sometimes a client asks for a timesheet to be included as supporting documentation. You’ll then attach it to your invoice.

Questions about consulting

Are you considering a finance consulting role at Hyphen? Here’s what you can expect, the types of projects we offer, and how we support your professional growth.

Finance project consulting offers you the opportunity to quickly and broadly expand your expertise. You’ll work in various roles, industries, and corporate cultures and learn to use a variety of tools and systems. This variety ensures that you’re constantly challenged and can discover through hands-on experience where your true strengths and interests lie. Finance project consulting is ideal for anyone who wants to explore the world of finance, challenge themselves, and pursue long-term growth.

At Hyphen, you’re choosing a personalized journey. With a close-knit team of over 40 consultants, there’s room for personal attention and a tailored development path.

Quality is our top priority: we carefully select our projects and invest heavily in coaching and follow-up. Hyphen deliberately focuses on mid-level and senior profiles, with consultants who have an average of three to fifteen years of experience. This ensures strong in-house expertise and an environment where you’re constantly learning from one another.

Our core business consists of projects in accounting, controlling, and finance management, all at the mid-career to senior level. These are substantively challenging assignments where you can apply your expertise and further deepen your knowledge.

We work with leading multinationals, as well as large and medium-sized Belgian companies. Our clients operate in virtually every sector, from retail to manufacturing and from healthcare to media. We’re a well-established name in Flanders and Brussels. Companies easily turn to Hyphen when they need temporary finance or legal support.

On average, projects last about 11 months. They often start out shorter but extend longer when there’s a good match between you and the client. Some assignments are deliberately limited in scope, such as a replacement assignment lasting just a few months.

Our office is located in the bustling Antwerp South district, but our clients are spread throughout Flanders and Brussels. When searching for a new project, we always start with your place of residence and apply a maximum commute time of about one hour, often combined with the option to work from home. Within that region, we look for projects that suit you.

Throughout your project, our business managers and HR Business Partners will check in with you monthly. This allows us to stay closely involved and make quick adjustments where necessary. In addition, we follow a structured process of development and evaluation meetings. Feedback from both Hyphen and the client is shared with you openly and transparently, so you can continue to grow in a focused way.

We believe it’s important to create a warm and supportive home base for our consultants. You’ll see your colleagues during team-building events, training sessions, and an annual incentive trip abroad.
